Why Commercial IP65 Supplies Fail Under Thermal Cycling
Many commercial grade Waterproof IP65 AC DC Power Supplies rely solely on perimeter silicone gaskets while using standard plastic housings. When an outdoor power supply experiences sudden thermal cycling (e.g., transition from direct sunlight exposure at +50°C to cold rain), an internal pressure differential is created.
This negative internal pressure creates a vacuum effect, drawing ambient moisture into the unit through micro-gaps, cable glands, or screw threads. Over time, internal condensation causes dielectric breakdown, severe corrosion on PCB traces, and premature MOSFET component failure.
- AJPS Solution: Fully potted or pressure-equalized enclosures utilizing hydrophobic Gore-Tex® breathers.
- Thermal Coupling: 3.5 W/m-K compound filling eliminates air voids and ensures internal heat dissipates directly to the chassis wall.
- Zero-Vacuum Sealing: Multi-channel O-ring seal geometry tested against immersion and washdown pressure.
